National Latin Honor Society Induction

On April 27th, 2006, the LCHS Language Department hosted its Honor Society Induction Ceremony for French, Latin, and Spanish students. Guest speaker, Mr. Thomas Sauer, President of the Kentucky World Language Association and World Language Content Specialist for Jefferson County Schools, relayed the growing need and governmental support for language programs in the United States. Lindsay Wilhelmus, Consul of the Latin Honor Society was the narrator of program. Following the joint ceremony, twenty six Latin II students were inducted into the National Latin Honor Society, and eight Latin AP seniors received pins. All Latin Honor Society students who take Latin during their senior year wear purple and gold cords for their graduation ceremony. Students in AP Latin receive gold seals on their diplomas. A reception hosted by parents of the Academic Boosters (organized by Mrs. Wilhelmus!) rounded out the evening of celebration.
